Veterans Memorial Park Ball Field
The original ball field was located west of Coon Creek, at the current location of the Coon Valley Dairy Supply & Implement Company. The ball field moved to its present location in the mid-40Ős. The lights were installed in the park in 1948. In the middle of the 1970Ős, the Coon Valley Lions Club redid the lighting system replacing the old lights with newer, more energy efficient and higher power lights.
The Coon Valley Area Baseball
Association, an organization dedicated to improving the game and the field, has
led the drive to install a new electronic scoreboard, a new announcing booth,
and additional fencing around the outfield of the park. Since its inception, 10 years ago, the
CVABA has completed the following improvements to the ball field area of the
park, totaling more than $103,000:

Teams using the field during the
spring and summer include Westby High School baseball, Coon Valley youth
baseball and softball, Chaseburg Coon Valley Blues city team, a member of the
Mississippi Valley League, Westby Legion baseball and menŐs league softball. During the month of July, there were
only 2 days when there were not any games being played on the field.
A concession stand is adjacent
to the field and serves a menu that is better than any in the area. Profits from the stand are divided
among the teams that use the field when the stand is open.
Veterans Memorial ball field has been the site of many American Legion Regional games, a 2001 Wisconsin Baseball Association (WBA) District Tournament, the 2002 American Legion Class A State Tournament, the 2005 WBA State Finals and now the 2007 American Legion State Tournament.
